The Lithuanian Sambo Federation (LSF) joined International sambo federation in 1990 and affiliated to the European sambo federation in 1991.

The great contribution to the sambo development in Lithuania was made by Prancishkus Ejgminas (1936-2006). He did a lot for sambo in the European and global scale. Ejgminas established the first sambo section in the Vilnius State University.

The highest achievements of the Lithuanian team in team championships are in combat Sambo: two bronze trophies for third places in the World championships in 2008 held in Saint- Petersburg (Russia) and in 2009 in Thessaloniki (Greece). As well as a silver trophy was received for the second place in the European championships in 2009 held Milan (Italy).

In the entire history of Lithuania on the highest step of podium at the world championships were only three athletes: Cheslovas Ezerskas, Eva Klimashauskene and Sergey Grechikho.

Cheslovas Ezerskas achieved the highest results. He won the first Open European championships (1972) and also became the three-times world champion (1973, 1974, 1975), the USSR champion (1972, 1975), the winner of the Games of the peoples of the USSR (1975). The coach of Ezerskas is Yuri Kuritsyn, the two-times USSR champion (1973-1974), the vice-world champion (1974).

Eva Klimashauskene (- 64 kg) is the world champion (2004), she also took the silver and bronze medals in the world championships (2006-2007) and became the vice-champion of Europe (1998, 2004).

Sergey Grechikho a master of combat sambo, he became the three times world champion (2007, 2009, 2012).

Cheslovas Ezerskas (- 82 kg), Antanas Songayla (-57 kg), Feliksas Jankauskas (-74 kg), Ricardas Rotsyavichius (-100 kg), Marionas Subochius (+100 kg), Algimantas Gribauskas (+100 kg), Sergey Grechikho (-68 kg).

Winners of the European and world championships:

Zhulonas Algirdas, Vytautas Gushauskas, Algis Mechkovskis, Irina Bogacheva, Ramunas Matulis, Viktor Tomasevic, Santa Pakyanite, Artemy Sitinkov, Eduardas Rudas, Grazyna Leuven, Wilma Causeni, Ingrida Yonavichiute-Shinkuvene, Laura Ruchinskaite, Karim Muradov, Aurelia Shukite, Robertas Rimas, Arvydas Yonushka, Tadas Rimkyavichius, Darius Stankevichius, and many others.

23 international category referees have been formed during the activity of the federation.
